Frequently Asked Questions

What can an IEP/504 Non-Attorney Advocate do and not do?

I can help you feel empowered to understand every part of the process, from evaluation to creating the best plan for your student. Together, I can support in demystifying all the complicated language, legal requirements, and services of a 504 Plan or IEP. I can attend meetings with you to support you asking for what your student deserve, communicate with the school team, and get everyone who works with your student on the same page. When a school is not playing by the rules, I can help you fight for what’s right.

I am not a lawyer and I will always be honest when your situation is a better fit for legal services than an advocate. If you choose to work with a lawyer, I am happy to guide you through that process, whether it is due process, filing OCR, community complaints, or helping you make sense of your compensatory services.
